Nachos were invented in 1943 by Ignacio 'Nacho' Anaya at the Victory Club in Piedras Negras, Mexico, just across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas. A group of U.S. military wives were visiting the town after a shopping trip and arrived after the restaurant's kitchen had closed. Anaya improvised a snack with what he had on hand.

Nachos are a savory dish characterized by a balance of cheesy, spicy, and crunchy flavors.
The dominant flavor is the sharp, salty, and often creamy taste of melted cheese, typically cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend. The tortilla chips provide a satisfying crunch and a subtle corn flavor. Beans contribute a creamy texture and earthy taste. Jalapeños introduce a spicy kick, which can range from mild to intense depending on the variety used. Other toppings like sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and seasoned ground beef or chicken add further layers of flavor and texture, enhancing the overall complexity.

Cheese Distribution
Ensure even cheese distribution by layering the chips with cheese multiple times rather than just adding a single layer on top. This prevents some chips from being bare while others are overloaded.
Chip Selection
Choose sturdy tortilla chips that can withstand the weight of the toppings without becoming soggy or breaking easily. Thicker chips are generally preferred.
Preventing Soggy Chips
To prevent the chips from becoming soggy, add wetter toppings like sour cream and guacamole just before serving. Consider using a broiler instead of a microwave for melting the cheese to keep the chips crispier.
